Our Mission

At MDIF, we work to ensure that technology serves everyone — safely, fairly, and responsibly. Our policy and advocacy efforts focus on influencing how India builds and governs its digital future — with particular attention to cybersecurity, digital inclusion, and sustainable technology.

We bring together grassroots realities, expert insights, and global best practices to inform policies that protect citizens and empower communities.

What We Do

Tech-for-All Policy Advocacy

  • Highlight the digital divide in access, language, affordability, and literacy across rural and urban India
  • Influence government and NGO strategies for digital skilling, access to public digital infrastructure, and awareness
  • Advocate for public funding and innovation schemes focused on women, youth, elderly, and differently abled users
  • Co-create community charters like:
    • Digital Access is a Right Charter
    • Inclusive Tech Design Principles for Bharat

Policy Research & Drafting

  • Draft whitepapers and simplified explainers on digital laws and frameworks like:
    • DPDPA
    • AI Governance Guidelines
    • IT Rules (2021+)
  • Translate these into regional languages and easy formats for schools, Panchayats, and small business owners
  • Recommend ethical guidelines for AI, blockchain, and fintech apps

Citizen-Centric Advocacy

  • Conduct policy listening sessions in small towns and underserved communities
  • Promote citizen feedback in national consultations through Jan-Mitra outreach
  • Bridge the gap between top-down policy and bottom-up need using research and human stories

Public Campaigns & Charters

  • Run public awareness campaigns on:
    • Cyber Safety for All
    • Your Rights Under DPDPA
    • Tech Access as Social Equity
  • Launch public charters including:
    • Right to Safe & Transparent Tech
    • Green Digital Pledge
    • Ethical AI for All Manifesto

Cybersecurity & Public Safety Policy

  • Advocate for stronger legal frameworks against cyber fraud, stalking, phishing, and AI-driven misinformation (e.g., deepfakes)
  • Submit recommendations for improving DPDPA implementation, especially for vulnerable populations
  • Work on standards for mobile app security, public safety audits, and consent-driven data practices
  • Help develop public-facing tools for safe reporting, awareness, and legal literacy
